Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA)

Iron deficiency anemia is a common type of anemia where blood lacks an adequate amount of healthy red blood cells. Red blood cells are responsible for supplying oxygen to tissue in the body. Symptoms of IDA are brittle nails, extreme fatigue, poor appetite, headache and chest pain.

Eligibility Criteria

  • At least 18 years old
  • IDA caused by abnormal uterine bleeding, gastrointestinal diseases, cancer, bariatric procedures, or any other conditions leading to blood loss
  • Intolerance or lack of response to oral iron supplements
