According to the CDC 74% of adults in the U.S. are overweight. Nearly one half (49%) of adults have tried to lose weight in the past year. Health effects of overweight and obesity include high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, sleep apnea,
and low quality of life.

In this lifestyle outcome trial the medication being tested out is Tirzepatide. It is being tested to determine its effectiveness for weight loss by reducing food intake, appetite, and improving how the body breaks down sugar and fat.

Eligibility Criteria

  • You have a BMI > 27

  • You fall under one of the following categories
    • individuals >40 years of age and have a disease that may affect the heart, brain, and/or blood vessels in the body such as coronary artery disease (heart attack), cerebrovasculardisease (stroke), or peripheral arterial disease (blood clot, stenosis, and/or stent placement)

    • women >55 and men >50 and have more than 1 risk factor for heart disease. A few examples for these risks may include kidney disease, tobacco use, or high blood pressure
